How To Blog Consistently: The Honest Guide
When you 1st start a blog, creating consistent content is the first habit to master.
In this article, you’re going to learn exactly how to create a blog that consistently has at least 1 new piece of content a day.
If you happen to follow me on any of other blogs, you may have noticed that I’m not the best at blogging consistently.
And I regret it.
I’m sure each of them would tell you that blog content marketing is a tried and true strategy that yields incredible results over time.
Blogging gives you options.
Later on in this article, you’ll hear about some of the incredible options that blogging opens up for you.
With today’s technology, you now have the ability to instantly transport yourself into the faces of your fans LIVE at any MOMENT.
It’s not a necessity, but it’s a powerful option for some.
Marry the process, divorce the result
This is crucial when you start blogging.
The process of blogging is a learning experience.
So, instead of just sitting down to pound out content, I set aside 1-2 hours to relax and research my topic.
Discovery leads to much better content.
If you can enjoy parts of that process, you’ll give yourself the best opportunity for blogging success.
Don’t skip the research phase. Especially if you want to earn money with your content marketing strategy.
We are bombarded with over 3,000 – 5,000 advertisements every day and if you’re not researching what people are responding too, then you are just taking shots in the dark.
You need to uncover:
- THE BEST article written on your topic
- THE MOST SHARED article written on your topic
- THE HIGHEST RANKED article written on your topic
Once those are discovered, you’ll have a better idea of how to create your content in a unique way that will compete with the best articles written on your topic
Side Notes: I recommend having an entire library of content on your website anyway. So even if you don’t think you can write the article as good as the best ones, I still suggest writing it.
Burnout is real.
The results from blogging can be frustrating at times for a number reasons.
Business can feel like it’s starting and stopping, over and over again.
Here’s how to avoid that.
Change your expectations to intentions.
If I had started things off with the expectation of getting results overnight or even within my first few months, I wouldn’t have been as consistent.
Instead, when I first started blogging, I intended to show people how creating a blog and blogging consistently is the #1 way to make money online.
Even with that direct type of initiative, it still took over a year to begin seeing any major search engine traffic.
The aspect of blogging that I have “married” is providing solutions.
Find a question you like and read the highest rated answer.
Challenge yourself to write a blog post that’s better than the best answer.
If I had done this strategy every day for 30 days, I guarantee it wouldn’t have taken me a year to start getting results from my blog.
Promote & Re-Purpose Your Content
You should spend more time promoting your content than creating it.
So if it takes you a day to write an article, you need to spend a day promoting it.
That’s how important it is.
Blog promotion is an extremely organic process that takes time to perfect.
And with tools like IFTTT, you can reduce the tediousness of it through automation.
It’s not important for you to write a new blog post or come up with a new idea every single day. What’s important is that you create valuable content every day.
Taking a piece of content like a blog post and re-purposing it to pdf on Slideshare or turning it into a YouTube video or an eBook is just like creating a new piece of content.
You’ll reach a new audience just by re-purposing old content into an entirely new format.
One of the most effective uses of re-purposing content is turning your blog post into an audio file or podcast.
Results of Blogging Consistently
Following this process consistently will ensure that the process never gets stale or old for you.
You’ll discover social media channels and formats that most people ignore that yield high amounts of traffic and conversions.
Usually, when things start to happen for your blog the consistency become automatic. It becomes exciting to create content knowing that it will turn into X amount of dollars.
That process takes time to build up and perfect.
But when done correctly, you can literally write your own paycheck.
